TITUS COUNTY READS

Titus County Reads is a program within Titus County Cares that focuses on comprehensive literacy development by targeting young readers. The program was started in the fall of 2013 and currently has about 115 local adult volunteers who read one-on-one with a 1st grader at one of six Titus County Elementary schools for 30 minutes a week. The extra reading practice, personal attention, and special relationship formed between each adult and their reading buddy offers countless benefits to these students. In 2023, Titus County Reads distributed over 5,100 books to each Kindergarten - 4th grade child on the four Mt. Pleasant elementary campuses as well as Chapel Hill and Harts Bluff schools.
