FOOD4KIDS

Food4kids delivers sacks of kid-friendly food for identified needy children every Friday to area schools, specifically to extremely low-income families or latch key children. The program is designed to prevent childhood hunger and provide each child the opportunity to succeed in school and life.

During the 2022-23 school year, over 1,700 bags were distributed each week. The program also incorporated two food closets at Chapel Junior High & High School and Mt.Pleasant Junior High & High School.

How it Works

Volunteers meet every Tuesday during the school year to form assembly lines to pack the sacks of food. Another team delivers these sacks to the schools each Thursday to be sent home with the children in their backpacks. Our volunteers come from local churches and businesses, as well as retirees.
